August 2011-Construction Outreach

I was leading a Bible study on the day of the 2010 earthquake that shook Haiti and left it in ruins. Our bible study spent time in prayer that night for the people of Haiti. It was just a few weeks later that I was out getting my passport because God had put it on my heart to go serve in Haiti. I waited on God's leading and He opened up a door for me to go in August of 2011. It was an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life and one that also has played a part in shaping my future.

We stayed with Granny Bin, just outside of the city of Port Au Prince. We were well fed, had clean living quarters and were very safe in the care of Granny. We did some different jobs on our trip and spent a few hours on the land where we will be building the school. We walked the land as Granny laid out the vision and we spent time praying over the land. It was a beautifully warm summer day. I didn't want to leave Haiti that week and came home with a very strong pull on my heart to go back. Only 4 months passed by before I was back to Haiti, and this time leading the team that I went with.

I feel very blessed to have experienced Haiti and even more blessed to be a part of it's future in building this school. I can't wait to go back and lead another team!!
